WILSON ORTIZ
Photographer
Wilson is a photographer of Colombian origin and Italian citizenship – his visual language blends Latin American roots with European training. He lives and works in Munich, where he develops both commercial and artistic projects. His work moves in two directions: on one hand, professional photography – from portraits and architecture to product and other commercial fields – executed with a sharp sense of form, color and composition. On the other hand, a personal and experimental practice where he works with movement, color and any medium that allows him to transform the image. Whether analog or digital, scanners, painting or mixed techniques – for Wilson, there are no boundaries between tools and formats.
Trained in graphic design, photography and multimedia, he began developing his visual language much earlier: drawing, crafting and visual creation have been part of his natural expression since childhood. His time living in London and Italy shaped his multicultural identity, becoming a defining part of his perspective – open, vibrant and visually powerful.
Influenced by classical and modern art – from Greco-Roman mythology to Modigliani, Picasso and pop art – Wilson sees photography as a form of visual metamorphosis: stillness turns into rhythm, architecture into emotion, and portraits into atmosphere. Color is a driving force in his work – he constantly seeks to animate the static and infuse images with feeling.
“I’m not interested in repeating what’s already been done. Photography means looking again – and seeing differently.”
Color, rhythm and transformation lie at the core of Wilson’s visual language. Even his black-and-white photographs feel full of color – as if his gaze brings everything it touches to life. Each image questions stillness, reimagines the everyday, and carries symbolic depth. His Latin American energy meets a European eye – resulting in compositions that are intense, emotional and alive. With a playful spirit and experimental mindset, he turns each project into a visual lab where design, photography and art flow freely – guided by intuition and curiosity.
He has exhibited in cities such as Rome, Florence, Venice, New York, Cervia, Monza and Munich. From his studio in Munich’s Lucky Westend district, he moves fluidly between commissioned work and artistic exploration – always seeking new ways to make images breathe, move and speak.
